Home | Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences plans simulation client programme
21 April 2023
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is planning a new project called the Simulation Client Programme (SimKliP). The aim of the programme is to prepare students of social professions, such as prospective social workers, doctors or therapists, for their future work in a practical way. To this end, simulated counselling scenarios are used to create realistic situations through role-playing in which students can train their communication skills.

The project manager of SimKliP is Prof. Dr Stefan Siegel from the Department of Health and Social Services at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. He emphasises the importance of practical experience for students and sees SimKliP as a great opportunity to gain this valuable experience during their academic training.
We are now looking for people who would like to be trained as simulation clients for counselling situations. In a 2-day training seminar at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, you will be introduced to the simulation client programme and the team will work with you to develop your roles (e.g. you will play a woman suffering from cancer who is diagnosed for the first time by her doctor, in this case a trainee counsellor). This seminar is also useful for anyone interested in non-violent and effective communication with spouses, children, neighbours, pupils, students or clients.
The roles you develop are integrated into the simulated counselling scenarios, enabling you to practise your communication skills in realistic situations. Participation in the preparatory training for simulation clients is free of charge and offers a unique opportunity to gain insights into counselling work, learn something about your own communication behaviour and at the same time support young professionals in their training. We hope that you will enjoy acting, practice-orientated learning and working with us. We would be delighted to have you!
Interested parties can contact Professor Siegel immediately to find out more about participating in the simulation client programme. Contact: stefan.siegel@hs-nordhausen.de
