Since 1 April 2023, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wudtke is the new Professor of Geotechnics at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. With his experience and expertise in the field of geotechnics, he will make a significant contribution to the further development of this field at HSN.

On 1 April, Professor Robert Wudtke took over from Professor Dieter Genske at the Chair of Geotechnics in Nordhausen. Originally from East Berlin, Wudtke studied civil engineering specialising in geotechnics in Weimar, where he also completed his doctorate. He has held lectureships at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences since 2016.

"The word continuity is at the forefront of my mind," emphasises the 48-year-old. He wants to continue Genske's work and his curriculum. In the winter semester, he plans to set his own priorities in the direction of engineering and construction when the new Bachelor's degree programme starts.

Wudtke is in favour of integrating elements of the circular economy into the construction industry and taking sustainability into account when building. He wants students to adopt sustainability as a criterion and incorporate it into their future work as civil engineers.

Wudtke also wants to meet the demand for civil engineers by going to local trade fairs to promote geotechnical engineering. He also plans to visit more schools to speak directly to pupils and show them that it is worthwhile doing something in the field of geotechnical engineering.

"Because we also have to build in the future," says Wudtke.

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is delighted to have gained Prof Dr Wudtke, a proven expert and experienced scientist, for the Chair of Geotechnics. We warmly welcome him and wish him every success and enjoyment in his work.
