Teaching and digitalization strategy

The development of a teaching and digitalization strategy is intended to show the University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen and all its members the direction for future-oriented and high-quality teaching. The Department of Studies & Teaching is involved in this process together with other cooperation partners and presents the current state of development on this page.

The aim is to develop the strategy in a participatory manner. This ensures that the needs and perspectives of all interest groups within the university community are taken into account. The Teaching Advisory Board, as a body representing various status groups, is centrally involved in the development of the teaching and digitalization strategy.

As this is a participatory strategy development process, all members of the university are also invited to get involved. This includes:

  • Employees of the university's support facilities
  • Teaching staff
  • Student body

University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen at the Peer-to-Peer Strategy Consultation of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung

We, the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, have been selected for the peer-to-peer strategy consulting of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (Higher Education Forum Digitization) (HFD)!

As one of six universities, University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen was chosen by a jury and will be supported by the HFD in its digitization process in 2023/24. The HFD is an initiative of the Stifterverband, the CHE Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (Center for Higher Education Development) and the German Rectors' Conference, which has been supporting universities in shaping digital change since 2014.

What has happened so far?

Step 1: Self-reflection: We have analyzed our starting position and current challenges and formulated concrete goals for the further development of studying and teaching. In this process, the diversified project team at our university collaborated. The results have been documented in a written self-report. This was submitted to the external consulting and support team in mid-December and serves as the basis for the ongoing consultation process.

Step 2: Consultation days - visit by the peers: On February 7 and 8, external experts ("peers") visited our university. This serves as a basis for discussing and reflecting on the challenges, goals and possible development paths in a joint and participatory process.

What can we expect next?

Step 3: Recommendation report: The peers, in collaboration with the HFD, will develop a recommendation report within approximately 8 weeks.

Step 4: 

Action Plan: After an internal discussion of the recommendation report, the project team will prepare a brief outlook in the form of an "Action Plan." This plan outlines the next steps of the strategy and implementation process in 3-5 pages and also includes a concrete outlook on which priorities and measures are to be implemented.

Peer-to-peer strategy consulting: Consulting days on February 07 and 08, 2024

On February 7 and 8, the peer-to-peer strategy consulting days took place at the University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen. The aim was to discuss and reflect on the challenges, goals and possible development paths of our university. The four peers who support and accompany us during the strategy consultation period and representatives of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD) came to the university for this purpose.

The university and the peers had put together an extensive program for the two-day visit. Getting to know the university and its members through the peers and the HFD created a good basis for goal-oriented cooperation. In the spirit of participatory process design, the peers met with various status groups at the university on the first day. In addition to the project team, these included the deans of studies, representatives of the support facilities and students. On the next day, the focus was on developing the content of individual key topics in the digitalization process. Therefore, all status groups worked together in workshops.

Following the consultation days, the peers will draw up a recommendation report for  the University of Applied Sciences Nordhausen.
