There, the teams presented their previous designs, ideas and solutions to a team of experts. <\/p>\n\n\n\nThe feedback from the experts and the knowledge gained from the wide-ranging specialist presentations on site have prepared the team well for the next milestone, the Critical Design Review (CDR) (May 2024). In addition to the presentations and training sessions, there was also the opportunity to get to know the other BEXUS and REXUS teams in the cycle and make new contacts. We went sledging and skiing together. Those who found the -30 \u00b0C too cold could play billiards or board games in the common room. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The crowning glory of the week was a visit to the Icehotel, where the students were able to admire incredible art made of ice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meeting at ESA ESTEC with Critical Design Review (CDR)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
In the week from 13 to 18 May<\/strong> the international teams met at ESA ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Centre, Amsterdam, Netherlands). One team member completed a course in space-compatible soldering. At the Critical Design Review, the final design of the experiment was presented and scrutinised by experts. The presented system design was approved and finalised. Only minor changes are still possible. Possible interferences between the experiments and measures to avoid them were also discussed. At ESTEC, all BEXUS teams received information on how to proceed with the project, primarily from SSC (Swedish Space Corporation), ZARM Bremen and ESA (European Space Agency). The next meeting with the other teams from Germany will be in September as part of the Experiment Acceptance Review (EAR) at ZARM Bremen.<\/p>\n\n\n\nBEXUS 34\/35 campaign at the Esrange Space Centre <\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The campaign with the balloon flight took place in the period 27.9. to 7.10.2024<\/strong> took place at the Esrange Space Centre. The ARESONUS experiment flew successfully on 2 October with BX35 from 09:52 to 15:38 and finally landed in Finland. The microphone signals were recorded the entire time, supplemented by data on temperature, pressure and acceleration. The minimum outside temperature was minus 72.2 \u00b0C, the minimum air pressure 15.4 mbar and the maximum altitude 27800 metres. The project was concluded with the preliminary evaluation of the data. Detailed data analyses and presentations of the results will follow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
