Every year, the start of the semester brings a breath of fresh air to the universities - and the winter semester 2025\/26 in the Bachelor's degree programme in Social Management in Nordhausen was no exception. The orientation days in the first week of the semester not only offered the opportunity to make new acquaintances and come into direct contact with social work organisations as part of the practical exploration, but also to gain first impressions of everyday university life. One thing is particularly evident here: the positive response from the first-year students.<\/p>\n\n\n

Our new students come from Bremen, Cologne, Leipzig, Nordhausen and the surrounding area with the desire to make a difference in society. They are open-minded, committed and often already have some practical experience. Whether from stays abroad, such as Mozambique and South America, voluntary work, the Federal Voluntary Service or from the social work environment. They are highly motivated not only to understand social systems, but also to play an active role in shaping them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"I like organising and planning.\" \"I want to be a different kind of leader in the future than I have experienced myself\", \"I want to initiate change and am interested in the tension between business without losing sight of people\" - these are just some of the comments from our first-semester students.
This is precisely where the Social Management degree programme comes in: it combines basic business and legal knowledge with the fundamentals of social work and sensitises students to the challenges of the social economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first few days at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences show: Social management is diverse.
