Nordhausen (FHPN) Following discussions with the Thuringian Minister of Culture, the candidate for the election of the Rector of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences has been finalised. Prof Dr J\u00f6rg Wagner, currently Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, is standing for the office of Rector of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. He will be joined by Prof Dr Reinhard Behrens and Prof Dr Viktor Wesselak as candidates for the office of Vice-Rector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

A public university hearing will take place on Monday, 27 September 2004, at 16:00 in Lecture Hall 1. Prof Dr Wagner for the office of Rector, Prof Dr Reinhard Behrens for the office of Vice-Rector for Studies and Teaching and Prof Dr Viktor Wesselak for the office of Vice-Rector for Research and University Development will introduce themselves to the members of the university. The public is not admitted to this event.<\/p>\n

The election of the Rector is scheduled for 28 September 2004 at 18:00 in the University Council and is open to the public. The University Council meets in seminar room 3 on the 1st floor of the lecture theatre building.<\/p>\n

The members of the new Rectorate team in brief:<\/p>\n

Prof Dr J\u00f6rg Wagner<\/p>\n

J\u00f6rg Wagner is Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences and was appointed Professor of Information Systems at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences in May 2000. He was born in Kassel in 1969. After graduating from high school, he completed a degree in business administration at the University of Giessen in 1993. He then joined Dresdner Bank in the Group Organisation department. Parallel to his professional activities, he completed a doctorate at the University of St. Gallen. In 1998, he moved to a major management and IT consulting company as a business unit manager.<\/p>\n

Prof Dr Reinhard Behrens<\/p>\n

Reinhard Behrens has been Professor of Accounting and Controlling at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences since February 2002. He was born near Cuxhaven in 1964 and completed his A-levels there. In 1992, he completed his degree in Business Administration at the University of Oldenburg. While working in the controlling department of Thiel GmbH in Oldenburg, he completed his doctorate at the University of Hanover in 1998. Shortly before, in 1997, he had already been given a deputy professorship at the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences before he was given the professorship for Accounting and Controlling in 1999, initially as a deputy professor.<\/p>\n

Prof. Dr Viktor Wesselak<\/p>\n

Viktor Wesselak was appointed to the professorship for Regenerative Energy Systems at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences in August 2003 and has since established the programme as a founding professor. He was born in Erlangen in 1965. After graduating from high school, he completed his degree in electrical engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1990. Following his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Chair of Control Engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, during which time he completed his doctorate. He then began his professional career as a development engineer at Siemens AG before taking over the development of the new Regenerative Energy Technology degree programme in Nordhausen.<\/p>\n
