For this year's University Information Day on Saturday, 22 April, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences would once again like to organise a Science Slam and is looking for entertaining contributions. In addition to students, lecturers and staff, senior pupils from secondary schools in Nordhausen and interested members of the public can also apply with an exciting contribution from their field of specialisation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

SCIENCE-SLAM? WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE?<\/b><\/p>\n

A science slam is a short scientific presentation tournament in which the \"slammer\" presents a scientific topic of his\/her choice to an audience within 10 minutes. The subsequent evaluation is also carried out by the audience. In addition to the scientific content, the comprehensibility and above all the entertainment value of the presentation are also assessed.<\/p>\n

IS THERE AN EXAMPLE?<\/b><\/p>\n

WHAT'S IN IT FOR THE PARTICIPANTS?<\/b><\/p>\n

The best science slammers can win prize money again this year. So it's worth taking part, because there are:
\n
\n- for the 1st place: 500 EURO<\/b><\/p>\n

- for the 2nd place: 300 EURO<\/p>\n

- for the 3rd place: 200 EURO<\/p>\n

HOW MANY SLAMMERS COMPETE AGAINST EACH OTHER?<\/b><\/p>\n

The university is looking for around six exciting contributions, each 10 minutes long.<\/p>\n

AND HOW CAN YOU TAKE PART?<\/b><\/p>\n

Interested parties can now apply to take part. Simply send a brief description of your planned topic by email to tina.bergknapp@hs-nordhausen.de. The closing date for entries is 12 February 2017. This year's slammers will be selected in the 7th calendar week.<\/p>\n
