Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences invites all interested parties to the second conference of the Institute for Public Management and Governance on 24 and 25 October 2023. To mark the 20th anniversary of the Public Business Administration/Public Management degree programme, the event will focus on current challenges and trends in the management of public tasks.

The symposium will take place on 24 and 25 October 2023 in Nordhausen The topic of the conference is "Designing in municipalities: effective task fulfilment in the administration ecosystem". The conference is aimed at academics and practitioners, alumni and students in the region.

The occasion of the conference is the 20th anniversary of the Public Business Administration/Public Management degree programme at the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. Since 2003, this seven-semester programme has provided direct access to a secure and flexible career in the higher general (non-technical) administrative service (career qualification). The Public Management programme at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is also Germany's only new public higher education programme in the last 20 years with a strong focus on administrative management.

On the first day of the conference, the programme will be shaped by renowned administrative science experts from all over Germany, who will speak about the administrative ecosystem from an economic perspective. Speakers will come from Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg, the University of Leipzig, the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer and the University of Freiburg, among others.

On the second day, challenges of municipal task fulfilment such as sustainability budgets, personnel recruitment, regulation and innovation management will be discussed with the help of practical examples and in the light of scientific findings.

Both days are linked by the steering impulses that can be effective for the fulfilment of public tasks at municipal level and how this can help to shape trends such as sustainability, demographic change and digitalisation through administrations.

Anniversary conference registration

A fee of €20.00 will be charged per day for participation, which covers catering in particular. Speakers and students can attend the conference free of charge. Alumni have the opportunity to attend both days for a total of €20.00.
