With the development of a teaching and digitalisation strategy, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences has set itself the direction for future-oriented and high-quality teaching. The Department of Teaching & Learning was involved in this process together with other cooperation partners. The aim was to develop the strategy in a participatory manner.
The following groups of people and committees play a central role in the development of the teaching and digitalisation strategy:
As this is a participatory strategy development process, all members of the university were also invited to take part. This included
The aim was to organise the strategy development as a participatory process. But why at all? We, the Department of Teaching and Learning, assume that our university members themselves know best what they need, how teaching and learning should be organised in the future, which goals should be prioritised and how these can be achieved. True to the motto "Experts in their own cause„.
To give everyone the opportunity to participate, we have integrated various mechanisms into the process:
The shared experiences, opinions and results of these measures to promote participation have a significant influence on the strategy development process.
Over the next four years, we worked on implementing the teaching and digitalisation strategy across the university.
We, the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, were selected for the  of the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (HFD) was selected!
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences was one of six universities selected by a jury and will be supported by the HFD in its digitalisation process in 2023/24. What has happened so far?Â
Step 1:
Self-reflection: We analysed our initial situation and current challenges and formulated concrete goals for the further development of studies and teaching. The broad-based project team at our university worked together on this. The results were recorded in a written self-report. This was submitted to the external advisory and support team in mid-December and serves as the basis for the further advisory process.
Step 2:
Consultation days - visit of the "peers": On 7 and 8 February, external experts ("peers") visited our university. For the two-day visit, the university had developed a comprehensive programme together with the peers. This served as the basis for discussing and reflecting on the challenges, goals and possible development paths in a joint and participatory process. To this end, all status groups worked together in workshops.
Step 3:
Recommendation report: Following the counselling days, the peers worked with the HFD to prepare an individual recommendation report for Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.
Step 4:
Action plan: After the recommendation report has been analysed within the university, the project team draws up a brief outlook in the form of an "action plan". The next steps in the strategy and implementation process are outlined on 3-5 pages. The plan also contains a concrete outlook on which priorities and measures are to be implemented.
The following external experts will support us in our digitalisation process as part of peer-to-peer strategy consulting:
Prof Dr Antje MichelPotsdam University of Applied Sciences (FHP), Professor of Information Didactics and Knowledge Transfer, has already acted as a peer on several occasions
