What I particularly like about Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is how lively and diverse the interaction is. In university health management, we organise offers such as exercise sessions, nutrition workshops, bike checks and back health days. Being involved in student committees such as the student council, student council or faculty council also gives you the opportunity to actively shape your studies, make valuable contacts and develop important skills. I like the family environment at the university. Professors and lecturers know you by name and even the canteen staff know what my favourite side dish is on schnitzel day. My degree programme (Health and Social Work, 5th semester) offers me a huge range of future employment opportunities. I can gain a foothold in almost any social organisation later on. But the healthcare sector also has a number of opportunities in store for me. I think hardly any other degree programme is so universal.

We welcome Prof. Dr Bastian Fischer as the new Professor of Special Education at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.
With his combination of practical experience in special educational needs, academic research and teaching experience, he brings a wide range of perspectives to our university. His academic focus is on interpretative assessment – and thus on the question of how people and their behaviour can be understood within their respective social, biographical and institutional contexts.
He attaches particular importance to the link between theory and practice. Together with our students, he aims to develop and reflect on knowledge and skills, and to apply them to the challenges faced in educational settings. 🤝

🎓 A very warm welcome, Prof. Dr Christopher Kulins!
With immediate effect, Prof. Dr Christopher Kulins is joining our Department of Economic and Social Sciences as Professor of Digitalisation and Digital Marketing.
His career path has taken him to companies including etventure, EY and Porsche Consulting, where he most recently served as Head of the Innovation Lab, overseeing numerous innovation projects. He also has international experience at management and technology conferences, as well as having lectured at various universities.
These days, he is primarily preoccupied with one question: How can we make effective use of artificial intelligence for innovation and strategy? 🤖
It is precisely this knowledge that he wishes to share with our students – in a practical and critical way, whilst focusing on what AI is actually capable of and where its limitations lie.
We’re looking forward to new perspectives, exciting projects and plenty of digital inspiration! 🚀

In the oldest photographs of the site, dating from the 1910s, there isn’t even a path to be seen here.
Today? It’s hard to imagine!
The campus without these stairs is like Nordhausen without a university – simply incomplete. 🏫

In our series of events, »Am I really good enough? – The imposter phenomenon in academia and university life«, you will learn to recognise your own imposter dynamics, question your thought patterns and develop strategies for dealing with self-doubt.

The workshops are primarily aimed at women and other groups that are under-represented in the academic system, such as people from migrant backgrounds, first-generation university students and those from non-academic families.

👥 15 places per workshop: places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A waiting list will be set up if necessary.
The series of events is being organised by the ProfX project at HSN as part of the „FH-Personal“ federal-state programme. The ProfX project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR).
The following applies to employees: Participation is permitted during working hours, provided that the immediate line manager has given their consent and there are no work-related reasons preventing it.
The series of events is being organised in cooperation with the HSN’s University Health Management service.

💧 How is water treated? How can materials be used more effectively? And how can waste materials be turned back into valuable raw materials?
Our new professor, Dr Jenny Jordan, is looking into questions like these. 👋
She is taking up the Chair of Process Engineering and Environmental Engineering at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, bringing a wealth of experience from both research and industry to the campus.
The topics covered are quite varied: from particle technology and powder metallurgy, through ceramics and plastics, to water treatment and filtration. Underlying all of this is the question of how technical processes can be made more efficient and more resource-friendly. 🌱⚙️
It is precisely this connection that she wishes to convey to our students:
💬 „I want to show students just how closely process engineering knowledge and environmental protection are linked – and that, in industrial practice, the two have long gone hand in hand.“

🔧 New to Mechanical Engineering: Welcome, Professor Hohmann! 👋
Dr Florian Hohmann, Dr.-Ing., is the new Professor of Mechanical Engineering/Design at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.
And he brings a wealth of practical experience with him to the campus: before joining us, he worked as a development engineer at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg – working on driver assistance systems, amongst other things.
In Nordhausen, he wants to demonstrate what modern mechanical engineering can look like today: How can products be designed to be durable and easy to repair or reuse? And how can sensor technology help to make technical systems smarter and more resource-efficient? 🌱⚙️
It is precisely these kinds of questions that are to be incorporated into teaching in future – ideally in collaboration with partners from industry and business, and based on real-world problems.
