Since 2021, HSN has been working on a Teaching and digitalisation strategy together with the 2022 founded Teaching Advisory Board. Students, lecturers from both faculties, representatives from the Language Centre and other interfaces work regularly in the Teaching Advisory Board to jointly negotiate the interests of studying and teaching at the HSN and make recommendations to the Presidential Board.

HSN successfully opted for a broad process with the highest possible level of participation for the creation of the teaching and digitalisation strategy. Peer-to-peer strategy consulting applied. From October 2023 to September 2024, we worked on the process internally and with the support of our peers and the University Digitalisation Forum. The finalised teaching and digitalisation strategy will be presented at the beginning of 2025 and the first measures will be implemented from March 2025.

The Teaching Advisory Board is a committee chaired by the Vice President for Study & Teaching and appointed by the Presidential Board for the duration of the President's term of office. The Teaching Advisory Board is tasked by the President's Board with advising and supporting the university management on fundamental and interdisciplinary issues relating to study and teaching and making recommendations. This includes quality assurance in teaching, profile development in the areas of didactics and digitalisation as well as the strategic planning of new degree programmes.

The members of the teaching advisory board are standing next to each other, with a woman sitting on the armrest of a red armchair on the far right.

In consultation with and with the involvement of the Teaching Advisory Board, the Department of Studies & Teaching develops the teaching evaluation, in which all courses are regularly evaluated according to the different course types. In addition, the Department of Studies & Teaching regularly launches its own surveys, such as the lecturer survey or the student survey on infrastructure and other HSN topics. The evaluations are anonymised made public.

A comprehensive student survey is conducted once a year.

Study & Teaching

The questionnaires for the student course evaluation were developed in collaboration with the Teaching Advisory Board, the Staff Council, the dean's offices of both faculties and the Department of Studies & Teaching.

The student evaluation of study-related infrastructure and services is carried out every three semesters (Evaluation regulations of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences).

Teachers also have the opportunity to include further questions in the question catalogue or to help design the questionnaires. The following application form must be completed and sent to the Teaching Advisory Board.
