Research data management involves the structured handling of research data throughout its entire life cycle. This begins with the planning of the research project and extends through data collection and recording to the subsequent processing and analysis of the data obtained. Publication, archiving and subsequent utilisation of this data are not only part of good scientific practice, they are also expected by more and more funding bodies and strengthen the recognition of research and the reputation of scientists.
The aim of the measures known as research data management is to carefully organise and maintain the data generated in the research process. This makes it easier to work with the relevant information. In addition, the research data can later be made freely accessible - if legally permissible - in order to promote the public dissemination of knowledge. Sometimes research data can also open up perspectives for further research projects. Good handling of research data is based on the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable).
On 30 November 2022, the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences Guideline for handling research data decided. A recommendation for action is intended to sensitise researchers to the structured handling of their data. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
