Home | Our study programmes | Application | Study in old age
Studying at an older age can be a rewarding and inspiring experience that not only broadens horizons, but also promotes understanding and respect between generations. The university offers a wide range of subject areas in the fields of economics, social sciences and engineering.
You have the choice between two forms of study: you can take up a regular course of study in one of the undergraduate degree programmes at our university or attend individual courses from the university programme as a guest student. In the case of a regular degree programme, examinations are written and an academic degree can be obtained. No examinations can be taken as a guest student.
The next Information event on studying in old age takes place on 18 September 2023 at 2 pm in the Audimax of the university.
As a rule, a university entrance qualification is required for admission to a regular degree programme. Please contact the SSZ to check your individual requirements.
Guest students have more flexibility for admission. Take advantage of our individual counselling service.
The participation fees depend on the type of study programme.
The following applies when starting a regular degree programme: All persons who have reached the age of 60 and who are enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme, plus the Semester fee pay a fee of 125.00 euros per semester for senior citizens. In return, you enjoy all the discounts and benefits as all other students (e.g. use of public transport, reduced prices in the canteen, etc.). Senior citizens who receive basic income support for old age and reduced earning capacity can apply to have the fee waived. This fee (125.00) will also be waived once in the current application procedure for the coming winter semester from 1 October 2023.
For a guest student, If you are studying for less time, these fees are usually 30 EURO per semester and 30 EURO for each one and a half hour course per semester. Up to four of these courses can be attended per semester.
So, it's worth starting soon at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences!
