BAföG

How can you finance your studies?

In principle, the funding options for a degree programme are as varied as your own creativity allows. We would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to two state funding programmes in particular.

BAföG

The Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) basically ensures barrier-free access to training of your choice. Barrier-free means that this access is made possible regardless of whether or not your own financial situation allows you to study. BAföG creates financial equalisation and thus ensures equal opportunities on the education market. Of course, applying for BAföG raises many questions. We generally recommend that you submit your application in full and on time in order to avoid delays in approval.

You can find detailed information and assistance on the subject of BAföG at www.das-neue-bafoeg.de or at the Studierendenwerk Thüringen.

Education loan

In addition to BAföG, the educational loan programme is another option for financing education. This is a low-interest loan that is subject to a time limit. The education loan programme is offered in particular for advanced training phases and can be seen as a supplementary instrument to the Federal Training Assistance Act. You can also find further information at www.das-neue-bafoeg.de on the Internet.

Jobs for students

Of course, there is also the opportunity to earn some extra money during the lecture-free period and in the semester holidays. There is certainly a need for student temporary staff in the local catering and business sectors. Look out for job advertisements at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and in the daily newspaper or simply ask directly the next time you visit a restaurant.
