Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences opens its doors to anyone who wants to expand their knowledge and improve their skills, regardless of age. The study programme is open to anyone who would like to learn together with students after their professional career in order to promote intergenerational cohesion and enable new learning.

Participants in the "Studium im Alter" programme deal with scientific topics at university level. A wide range of subject areas are offered, including psychology, health science, private law, participation, clinical social work, physics, technical drawing, microbiology, personnel management, human resources management, social management, organisational development, scientific work and languages. The mixture of different disciplines enables a broad spectrum of knowledge and experience.

The Participation fees depend on the type of study programme. All persons who have reached the age of 60 and are enrolled on an undergraduate degree programme must pay a fee of 125.00 euros per semester in addition to the 160.58 euro semester fee. In return, they enjoy all the discounts and benefits as all other students.

Senior citizens who receive basic income support in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity can apply to have the fee waived. This fee (125.00) will also be waived once in the current application procedure for the coming winter semester from 1 October 2023. So, it's worth starting soon at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. With Guest auditorium with less time commitment, these fees are usually 30 EURO per semester and 30 EURO for each one and a half hour course per semester. Up to four of these courses can be attended per semester.

A brochure containing all the information on studying in old age will be available from September this year. In order to familiarise interested parties with the offer on 18.09.2023 at 2 pm in the Audimax the HSN another Information event instead.
