At the end of April 2023, University President Prof Dr Jörg Wagner visited Uzbekistan as part of a delegation from Thuringia led by Minister President Tiefensee and State Secretary Feller and signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation with several Uzbek universities, including the Samarkand Institute of Economy and Service (SIES).

On 15 August 2013, a three-person delegation consisting of the Rector, Vice-Rector and Head of the International Cooperation Office of the Samarkand Institute for Economy and Service (Uzbekistan) travelled to Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences for a return visit. The aim is to explore and concretise opportunities for cooperation between the university and the institute.

After the introduction and presentation of both universities, talks and discussions took place between University President Wagner and Rector Pulatov. Prof Dr Stefan Zahradnik represented the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences as Dean. The greatest overlaps and potential exist in the Business Administration, Public Management and Digital Product Management degree programmes. The second meeting between the two university heads resulted in the signing of an agreement for the purpose of student exchange. Both universities are also open to short visits by students (so-called summer schools) and lecturers.

A tour of the campus, the university incubator (hike), the August Kramer Institute and the university library rounded off the programme for the delegation's visit to Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.
