Establishing and maintaining health-promoting working and study conditions

The HGM brings together all health-promoting programmes at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. The members of the Control circuit HGM regularly exchange health-related information in order to further develop the offer for students and employees in a customised and sustainable manner and Health-promoting working and study conditions and to maintain it. In order to maintain and promote the performance and quality of work of university staff, it is important to permanently reduce stressors in the university environment.

With the aim of maintaining physical and mental health, all employees have the opportunity to take advantage of the health management services organised by the university for a maximum of one hour per week at Offsetting against working time. This must be documented in the comments field when recording working hours. Any additional time spent utilising the services of the University Health Management is outside of working hours.

Mental Health Days 2025

To mark World Mental Health Day, Thuringia's universities are organising three digital action days. The programme offers impulses on mindfulness, resilience, stress management and a healthy approach to the challenges of everyday university life.

Every Wednesday! Physiotherapeutic massage offers

Massages have a stress-reducing, relaxing and activating effect.

To promote your health, you can be massaged by a medical masseur in House 32 on Wednesdays and Thursdays (duration: 20 minutes). Massage appointments can be booked via the health app.

Blood donation dates at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences

The team is looking forward to welcoming many donors - go along! The blood donation will be honoured with 15 euros.

Notes:

  • Please bring your blood donor pass and your identity card/passport with you.
  • A blood donation is only possible four weeks after recovery.
  • There should be 48 hours between Covid vaccination and donation.
  • The primary aim of blood donation is to provide patients with the safest possible care. For this reason, some willing donors are not authorised to donate, e.g. if they have been exposed to a risk of infection and their donation could transmit diseases (e.g. hepatitis).
  • Those wishing to donate must also have sufficient German language skills to be able to complete the donor form independently and carry out the medical interview themselves before donating blood.
  • It should be noted that people who grew up in malaria-endemic areas are not allowed to donate blood in Germany or must prove that they have never contracted malaria.
  • Blood donors must be traceable for 30 years, e.g. in the event of subsequent checks or enquiries from patients.

For employees

From now on, the "Moving Breaks" will take place two days a week: Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
The short sessions (20-30 minutes) help to loosen up the body, reduce stress and re-energise for the working day.

For students

The programme for students is also growing. From now on, there will be two different time slots on Tuesdays to take part in the activating sessions. This means that the movement break can be used flexibly between lectures and seminars - for a clear head and fresh energy.

Di-Mi-Bewegte-Pause-WiSe-2025_26

All of the "Bewegte-Pause" programmes take place in the sports hall and last between 20 and 30 minutes.

Sportswear is not required. Participation is possible in socks, trainers or with shoe covers. Registration is not required.

 

HSN health app (WorkLifePortal)

The WorkLifePortal allows you to register for all of our university health programmes; the health app allows you to challenge colleagues to health challenges and offers many short videos and audios from the areas of exercise, healthy eating, relaxation & sounds, workplace health, etc.

Completing the activities is not only rewarded with a better sense of well-being; the completed units can also make a lasting contribution to the environment by redeeming the points collected for planting trees.

COPSOQ survey

The COPSOQ (Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire) is a scientifically validated questionnaire for recording mental stress and strain at work. It is used in particular in the context of occupational risk assessment.

Online forum "Psychologically fit studying"

Irrsinnig Menschlich e.V. supports young people with prevention programmes for mental health and openly and easily addresses mental health crises at university.

In this way, they help students to recognise their need early on and not to hide. Irrsinnig Menschlich e. V. regularly organises discussion forums.

Educational leave

Educational leave

During training leave, your own health and performance can be improved through theoretical information and practical elements. As an employee, you can take five days off work per year for educational purposes. Your salary will continue to be paid during the training leave.

The costs for the training event are borne by the employee. Around 1300 events have already been recognised in Thuringia. The educational event does not necessarily have to have something to do with your professional activity. Courses on socio-political issues or further training in voluntary work are also possible.

Long periods of sitting can lead to tension and pain. It is therefore important to take regular exercise breaks and do sport. Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences would like to contribute to sporting variety in everyday life by offering various exercise programmes:

A group of managers from the areas of administration, science and research discuss leadership requirements and challenges and pursue the goal of developing a common understanding of leadership and thus shaping health-conscious leadership at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.

Health and Safety Committee

The task of the Health and Safety Committee is to discuss matters relating to occupational health and safety, including health promotion in relation to working conditions.
