155 international scientists attended the conference "Qualitative Research on Mental Health" in Budapest, co-organised by Prof. Dr. Maria Borcsa, Professor of Clinical Psychology at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.

From 31 August to 2 September 2023, the international conference entitled "QRMH9 - Qualitative Research Methods in Mental Health" at the Lorand Eötvös Science University in Budapest.

Prof. Dr. Maria Borcsa, Professor of Clinical Psychology at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and one of the main organisers of the conference, as well as other members of the university, took part in the international conference on qualitative social research from different perspectives and in different roles.

155 participants from various continents and a total of 26 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, India, Ghana, the Philippines and numerous European countries, presented their expertise for discussion.

138 research topics were submitted, demonstrating the diversity of research in the field of mental health. Prior to the actual conference, five pre-conference workshops were held, offering participants the opportunity to explore the conference theme in greater depth and in a multi-faceted way. The conference comprised a range of 106 lectures and presentations in various formats, including 9 symposia, 13 poster presentations and 84 short presentations with discussion.

Prof Dr Maria Borcsa from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences presented her own research findings at a symposium on the topic of "Transgenerational effects on families after forced migration. What can we learn from history?".

Furthermore, Kristin Hoffmann, a TSA graduate from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, presented the results of her Master's thesis in a short presentation with discussion: "How does the therapeutic system use the impulses of the Reflecting Team in the further course of couples therapy? An explorative study".

Other participants from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences were Szilvia Schelenhaus, lecturer for special tasks, and Christiane Marx, Master's student on the Systemic Counselling programme.

The Springer publishing group once again supported the conference this year by awarding three book prizes. The presenters of the best-placed posters received a copy of the volume "Qualitative Research Methods in Mental Health: Innovative and Collaborative Approaches"edited by Maria Borcsa and Carla Willig.

Participants also had the opportunity to experience Budapest at a conference dinner along the Danube on one of the catering boats. They were also able to admire the highlights of Budapest during an informative exchange of expertise with colleagues from all over the world.

The next QRMH conference will take place in Budapest again in 2025.
