Yesterday evening, the annual reception of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and the city of Nordhausen took place in the courtyard of the new fire station. Almost 350 guests from various areas of Nordhausen society, including representatives from sport, culture, politics, science, medicine, business, education and the emergency services, took part in the important event. The participation of international guests who had come to Nordhausen as part of the university's international project week was particularly pleasing.

"Every guest and every institution represented was involved in and for Nordhausen in their own way," said Mayor Alexandra Rieger. She explained: "The broad civil society characterises the climate of our city, and often those present are also the ones to whom the administration addresses itself."

The annual reception was organised in two languages to do justice to the international guests. More than 30 research and teaching staff from 18 countries travelled to the southern Harz region as part of the international project week. Thinking outside the box has been an important part of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences for 25 years and has evolved together with it. The main aim of this initiative is networking and the hope of attracting prospective engineers, computer scientists and technicians to Nordhausen through international contacts. The demand for highly qualified specialists continues to be immense.

In order to meet this demand, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is planning to further expand its cooperation with regional companies on campus and offer a "Studium Praxis Plus" programme, which is similar to a dual study programme. "The future undoubtedly lies in an international focus," emphasised University President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner.

The successful annual reception organised by Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and the city of Nordhausen underlines the immense importance of cooperation between educational institutions, the city administration and Nordhausen society. Through the exchange of knowledge and ideas and the promotion of international relations, Nordhausen is strengthened and developed as an attractive location for highly qualified specialists.
