The welcoming ceremonies took place in two consecutive events, separated into the faculties of engineering and economics and social sciences.
Prof Dr Jörg Wagner, President of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, opened the welcoming ceremony for the first-semester engineering students. Prof. Dr rer. nat. habil. Mario Schölzel, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Mathias Kurras, the university's co-operation partner from MAXIMATOR Hydrogen GmbH, also gave warm welcoming speeches. The event was accompanied by music from the Hofereiter family.
President Wagner also welcomed the first-semester students of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. Prof Dr Stefan Zahradnik, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences, and Lea Schnell, graduate and kindergarten director of the Oekumenischer Kindergarten Nordhausen e.V., gave welcoming speeches.
The Department of Studies and Teaching, represented by Kathleen Hahnemann, then provided information on important matters relating to studying.
As a traditional welcome gift, the new students received the popular "Ersti bag" after the events, organised by University Marketing. This contains useful vouchers, information flyers and merchandise to make the start of their studies easier.
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is delighted to welcome the new members of the university community and wishes all students a successful start to the 2023/24 winter semester.
