Lutz Herfurth, Director of the Studienkolleg, has been in contact with the National University of Civil Engineering (NUCE) since 2008. It has been a partner university of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and the Bauhaus University Weimar since 2012. Since then, Vietnamese students have been prepared for studying at one of the two universities at the state preparatory college. In special courses, they primarily acquire the basic German language skills required for an engineering degree programme.

In order to further strengthen the cooperation, a cooperation agreement was signed on 2 March between Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, represented by the President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, and NUCE, represented by the Rector Prof. Pham Duy Hoa.

The guests from the Far East were then welcomed to the community centre by Nordhausen's Lord Mayor Dr Klaus Zeh.
