While there are specialist centres and contact points for FASD in some federal states, there is no such support format in Thuringia, especially for foster and adoptive parents. FASD is called foetal alcohol spectrum disorder and is a prenatal damage caused by alcohol consumption during pregnancy. The consequences can vary greatly.

As a specialist for FASD and a member of FASD Deutschland e.V., it was and is the aim of the Soma teacher Anja Bachmann-Duscha in Thuringia in the following areas: Support - information and counselling, especially for social parents (foster and adoptive parents), educational offers for different target groups (caregivers, educational staff and in the school/university sector), networking - interdisciplinary cooperation with other professionals and stakeholders.

As part of the financial and technical support of the EXIST-WOMEN programme (developments and activities to promote and support female founders from universities and research institutions), it was possible to design and implement a website. Thanks to the constructive and motivating co-operation with the team at the Hike - the university incubator for entrepreneurship at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences The initial idea was turned into a real project.

Various target groups can find out about services and opportunities relating to FASD and make contact on the website that has been developed. Flyers and brochures are available to download free of charge and current information on events and publications is also presented.
