All you need is a general higher education entrance qualification, a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification or an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences. And if you have an equivalent, recognised qualification, you are also very welcome. You do not have to complete a pre-study internship and we have no admission restrictions.

Information about the degree programme

The Social Management degree programme at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences teaches practical and interdisciplinary content that is geared towards the requirements of the social economy. The focus is on management tasks in social economy organisations. Students acquire in-depth knowledge in areas such as social economy, human resources management, accounting and controlling as well as legal principles. Another feature of the programme is its close links with practice, for example through an integrated internship semester and numerous project assignments. The degree programme also promotes international experience and the acquisition of foreign language skills.

The target group of our Social Management degree programme are committed, empathetic people with a strong passion for social responsibility and the Striving for positive change in society.

  • Social manager: As a social manager, you will manage social organisations such as retirement homes, facilities for the disabled or social services. You develop and implement strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of these organisations.

  • Personnel manager: You can work in various fields of modern personnel management - including in profit organisations: in personnel marketing, in job placement, in recruitment and personnel development as well as in supporting change processes.  

  • Project manager in the social sector: You can initiate and manage projects to improve social services or solve social challenges. This can take place in various areas such as health, education or the integration of minorities.
