From the idea to the finished product: thinking out of the box

SoMa you can touch

Boredom in the seminars? No, there's no question of that.

After a practice-orientated introduction with a theoretical grounding in communication policy, students are asked to develop their own ideas. Over the past few years, a wide variety of products have been created that allow students to gain experience, discover potential and learn about limits. In addition to formats such as films, radio programmes, flash mobs and charity events, students have designed and produced games (Somativity, Somapoly) and developed postcards, notebooks, posters and brochures. The focus was on the topics and content of their own Social Management degree programme.

What will be remembered?

These are different learning experiences: Combining theory and practice, working together cooperatively in a small group and bringing consensus-building and a willingness to compromise to life. Helping to shape and be part of the overall result was an important learning objective. The different voices of the students show that this was achieved: "a special learning effect", "an innovative examination performance with new learning experiences", "learnt and applied a lot about marketing and public relations", "more of this please", "was fun". All in all, these offers in our degree programme provide the opportunity to try things out and think outside the box.
