Launch event for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November 2025

Under the motto „Live free - without violence“ Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is sending a strong signal against violence against women and is taking part in a public kick-off event on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The event will take place on 25 November 2025 at 18:00 in Lecture Hall 1, House 19, on the university campus.

The evening will be opened by Prof. Dr Viola Sporleder-Geb and Prof Dr Cordula Borbe, which will emphasise the importance of the day of action and the responsibility of educational institutions in the social discourse. In the foyer of Haus 19, visitors can also view the exhibition „Together against sexism“ that makes various facets of structural discrimination visible.

Afterwards, the university will present a feature film that shows the so-called „Weinstein scandal“ and the international #MeToo movement and thus documented the urgency of the fight against sexualised violence.

At the end, a small snack invites you to exchange ideas. This will be organised by Scientific Association provided. The event is sponsored by the Thuringian Competence Networks for Gender Equality (TKG).

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences wants to send a clear signal with this day of action: Violence against women is not a private matter, but a social problem that requires attention, solidarity and commitment.
