At the end of April, University President Prof Dr Jörg Wagner visited Uzbekistan as part of a delegation from Thuringia led by Minister President Tiefensee and State Secretary Feller - the first return visit took place two weeks later.

Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences recently welcomed a delegation from Tashkent University of Information Technologies (Uzbekistan). University President Wagner had recently visited the University of Information Technologies Tashkent (TUIT) together with State Secretary Feller on 27 April 2013 for preliminary talks on a possible partnership. Now the Rector, Prof. Dr Bakhtiyor Makhkamov, and the Vice-Rector for Studies and Teaching, Djamshid Sultanov, travelled to Nordhausen for a return visit.

In addition to visiting the campus and, in particular, the HSN IT laboratories, University President Wagner and Professor Dotsenko explored concrete potential for cooperation with Rector Makhkamov and Vice-Rector Sultanov.

In addition to the field of information technology, potential in the areas of electrical engineering, automation and industrial engineering was also discussed: The partners agreed on the establishment of joint study programmes and scientific cooperation.

The second meeting between the two university leaders resulted in the signing of a memorandum on the initiation and deepening of relations as well as an agreement for the purpose of student exchange.
