Summary of the project

Since 2013, the ISRV has been involved in an international research project on the topic of "Couple counselling and couple therapy" (Relational Mind).

The research project focusses on the interaction between couples and therapists within couples therapy. The subjects of the research project are both clients who take advantage of couples therapy and the therapists who are responsible for these couples therapies. The aim is to investigate the role played by the autonomic nervous system at significant moments during a therapy session. All participants (couples and therapists) will be analysed. It will be analysed how the couple and the therapists attune themselves to each other during the conversation and how this attunement becomes visible in the reactions of the autonomic nervous system. The aim of the research project is to gain information about which psychophysiological factors accompany human interactions and how the human psyche is shaped by these interactions.

If you Interest in couples counselling or therapy please contact us without obligation!

We look forward to your e-mail, your call or your visit...

You will find more detailed information on the following pages. If you have any questions or comments, we would be pleased to hear from you.

Our way of working during the couple's meetings:

In discussions with a counselling team, the first step is to initiate a process of understanding in which the partners can express their different needs, fears and anxieties and clarify them together.

Together with you, we will draw on your wealth of experience as a couple, look at what you have already mastered together and build on this during the discussions.

We offer you a wide range of expertise in an atmosphere of trust and support you in overcoming your difficulties and finding solutions.

This research was approved by the ethics committee of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
