Nordhausen, 17 March 2026 - Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences cordially invites all prospective students, their parents and anyone else who is curious to an Open Day. On Saturday, 30 May 2026, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., visitors to the campus at Weinberghof 4 in Nordhausen can experience first-hand what it means to study at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences - from laboratories and research institutes to lecture halls and facilities such as the university library to the student club and discussions with students.

Study programmes from all areas present

The programme covers the entire range of courses offered by Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. Prospective students can find out about all degree programmes in the fields of engineering, economics and social sciences. Lecturers, staff, students and partners will be available to answer questions at numerous information stands.

Lectures, labs and hands-on activities

In addition to the information stands, visitors can look forward to a varied programme of lectures. Among other things, lecturers and students will present degree programmes in short information sessions, including topics such as environmental engineering, electrical engineering, raw materials and recycling or the question of whether you should still learn programming in the age of AI.

Live demonstrations from current research projects, such as 5G networks, quantum cryptography and local AI systems, will be shown in the network lab. In the sensor technology and market research lab, a product tasting session invites visitors to join in.

Another topic from everyday student life will be addressed by the social work department at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences: A presentation will address the question of how students can stay mentally healthy during their studies - a support programme that only a few universities offer in this form.

Offers for families and younger visitors

There is also a special programme for younger visitors and families in the student research centre and on the outdoor area: making wind turbines, constructing hovercrafts, logic games, slackline and face painting - technology and science can be experienced in a playful way here. Guided tours of the campus also offer a good overview of the university site.

„The Open Day is the most important opportunity of the year for us to give prospective students a real insight into studying at our university - not with glossy brochures, but in direct dialogue and by experiencing it for themselves,“ explains HSN President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner.

Study counselling directly on site

The Student Service Centre will be on site at the Open Day and will be available for individual counselling sessions - on admission requirements, application deadlines and student financing. External partners such as the Federal Employment Agency, Arbeiterkind e.V. and the Studierendenwerk are also represented.

The open day is aimed in particular at pupils who are considering their studies, but also at parents, teachers and anyone who would like to find out more about Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.

The full programme will be published on the university's website in the coming weeks.

Practical tips: Admission is free of charge. Registration is not required. Car parking is available on campus. Catering is provided - the canteen is open and snacks will also be available on campus.
