On 2 September 2025, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences bid farewell to two influential figures on their retirement: Prof Dr Jörg Arnsmeyer and Prof Dr Bernd Schwien.

University President Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner presented both professors with a certificate on behalf of the Free State of Thuringia and paid tribute to their many years of service with warm words: "We can look back on a long, successful time. On behalf of the entire university, I would like to thank you for your commitment, your academic work and the education of generations of students."

Prof Dr Jörg Arnsmeyer has taught in the Department of Economics and Social Sciences in the Business Administration programme since 2003. His professorship in economics was characterised by a wide range of research interests: from econometrics and time series analysis to forecasting methods and systems, data analysis systems and time series-oriented controlling. He was also intensively involved in market research and knowledge management as well as the technical data implementation of economic issues in companies.

Prof Dr Bernd Schwien has been a member of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences since 2004. He represented the Chair of Financing Social Economy Organisations on the Social Management course and accompanied numerous students on their way to responsible positions in the social economy. He was also very active internationally in research and teaching.

With their professional expertise, their commitment to teaching and their personal ties to the university, both professors have left a lasting mark on Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.

The university community would like to thank Prof Dr Jörg Arnsmeyer and Prof Dr Bernd Schwien for their work and wishes them all the best for the new phase of their lives.
