On 7 June, participants of the delegation trip organised by the German Research Foundation (DFG) to North America last September met at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.

As a representative of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and the Institute of Social Medicine, Rehabilitation Sciences and Health Services Research (ISRV), Prof. Dr Maria Borcsa successfully took part in this trip, which gave scientists from universities of applied sciences from all over Germany the opportunity to establish international contacts with selected North American universities.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is the central self-governing organisation of science in Germany. It funds research projects at universities and other research institutions, supports the networking of scientists and is committed to the quality and internationalisation of German research.

The main points of the follow-up meeting organised by Prof. Borcsa were to intensify the contacts that had been established between the researchers within Germany and to analyse best practice examples of successful DFG proposals.

Prof Dr Martin Heckelmann and Prof Dr Ute Dietrich from the Berlin University of Applied Sciences, Prof Dr Thomas Leich from the Harz University of Applied Sciences in Wernigerode, Prof Dr Vivien Carstensen from the Bielefeld School of Business, Prof Dr Mathias Walther from the Wildau University of Applied Sciences and Prof Dr Maria Borcsa from the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences discussed their current research projects in a collegial atmosphere.

This led to a lively exchange about existing resources and possible collaboration between the researchers and their topics. Prof Dr Claudia Spindler, as representative of the ISRV's Executive Board, was also able to talk to her colleagues and initiate new collaborations. The meeting was supported by the ISRV coordinator Claudia Ehrhardt-Weißenborn.

"The follow-up meeting impressively demonstrated how valuable and inspiring international dialogue is for our scientific projects. The resulting collaborations and the lively exchange between the researchers offer enormous potential for future joint success," emphasises Prof. Dr Maria Borcsa.
