Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Jiayi Wang as Professor of "Electrical Engineering/Power Electronics". The appointment by the President of the University, Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, took place on 24 June. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wang will take up her professorship on 1 July 2024.

Dr Jiayi Wang is originally from Shanghai, China, and began her studies at Tongji University, where she studied mechanical engineering for one year and German as a foreign language for one year. In 2002, she decided to continue her studies in Germany and transferred to the University of Kassel, where she studied electrical engineering. She also completed her doctorate at the University of Kassel in 2017.

After completing her doctorate, Dr Wang joined Mercedes Benz AG in 2017, where she worked as a development engineer and component manager for the MPU (Motor Pump Unit) control unit of the eABC (E-Active Body Control) active chassis. In 2022, she took on a new role within the company and was responsible for range forecasting for the electric platform. Since 1 May 2024, she has been a professor at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) Mosbach in the Faculty of Engineering.

Prof Dr Jörg Wagner expressed his delight at the addition to the Department of Engineering: "We are delighted to welcome Dr Jiayi Wang to our team. Her extensive experience and expertise will enrich our university."

On her appointment, Dr Jiayi Wang said: "I want to give the students the best possible foundation. Electrical engineering and power electronics are fundamental areas that are of great importance for in-depth study programmes."
