Since 1 September, the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences has been able to look forward to reinforcement: Dr Jan Andre Millemann was recently appointed Professor of Marketing and Digitalisation by the President of the University, Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner.

Prof Dr Jan Andre Millemann began his professional career by training as an energy system electronics technician.

He laid the foundation for his academic career in 2011 with his Bachelor's degree in Business Engineering. He supplemented his studies with a number of semesters abroad, specialising in software development, marketing and management accounting, where he also worked on international projects. In 2013, he completed a Master's degree in Supply Chain Management at the University of Wisconsin, followed by a Master's degree in Process Management at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen.

In 2019, he graduated summa cum laude from Saarland University with a doctorate in technology and innovation management. In his dissertation, he analysed resistance to and rejection of innovative products and services. In addition to traditional quantitative marketing research methods (online surveys and experiments), Prof Millemann used innovative and interdisciplinary approaches such as fMRI experiments, social media field experiments (A/B testing) and methods for collecting large, unstructured data sets (web scraping).

The newly appointed professor already has several years of experience in teaching. He gained this as a lecturer in business administration at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen, TH Aschaffenburg and also as a visiting scholar at universities in Arizona, St. Petersburg, Melbourne and Helsinki. Most recently, he taught for three years as Assistant Professor of Marketing and Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands).
