What you can expect during your studies...

Are you enthusiastic about technology and want to design automation systems and develop electronic circuits and devices using the latest tools?

Then the Automation and Electronics Development degree programme at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is just right for you!

In our practice-oriented degree programme, you will learn how to use state-of-the-art development tools in control engineering. The design and simulation of electronic circuits and devices are also part of your curriculum, so that you are optimally prepared for your future career.

Thanks to our well-developed network of industry contacts in Germany and abroad, we are able to guarantee practical training and a practical phase with a Bachelor's thesis in a company.

StudyPractice

Who says you have to choose?

We have the right thing for you!

Optional study programmePractice

The StudiumPraxis programme combines the advantages of an academic degree with the benefits of in-depth practical phases in a company. The company accompanies you as a practice partner throughout your entire degree programme. While you study according to the regular curriculum, you gain practical experience with your practice partner during the lecture-free period. This gives you a concrete perspective early on of what your professional career could look like after graduation. The company training allowance will provide you with financial support from the start of your studies.

As a graduate of this practice-intensive degree programme, you will have a high-quality academic degree (Bachelor) and tailor-made content from the company. This will equip you with the theoretical and practical knowledge you need to join the company.

Why you should study Automation and Electronics Development at HSN:

Diverse and practical training: Through numerous projects and collaborations with industry, you will gain practical insights and be able to apply what you have learnt directly.

Personalised support: Small seminar groups and personal support ensure that you feel that you are in good hands and can get help quickly if you have any questions.

Modern and flexible study conditions: Our university offers you modern facilities and flexible study models that adapt to your needs.

Strong networking: Our well-maintained network of regional and national industry contacts opens up numerous opportunities for internships and networking.

Advantages over a university: At our university, you will receive more support in your learning process. We offer learning objective control questions, exercises to deepen your knowledge and encourage interaction in lectures and seminars. Instead of anonymous lectures with hundreds of students, you benefit from a personal learning atmosphere and direct dialogue with the lecturers.

Research and practice: Our university is one of the few that receives an above-average proportion of research funding from industry-funded, practice-relevant research projects. This enables you to gain valuable practical experience and build up a professional network during your final thesis. You will be supervised by professors who themselves have many years of experience in industry.

Student competitions

Students also acquire practical skills and abilities by working on projects in international student competitions, for example in the BEXUS-IMUFUSION project and in the current BEXUS-ELFI project and in the current BEXUS-ARESONUS project.

Then we offer another option for acquiring the admission requirements for a Bachelor's degree programme at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences: the fee-based Certificate programme "HSNgo" and the subsequent university entrance examination.

In two semesters, "HSNgo" offers a German course as well as general and subject-specific preparation for the university entrance exam.

What is the difference between studying at a University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and at a „Universität“ (university)? At our University of Applied Sciences, you will receive much more support throughout your learning process than at a traditional university. We provide self-assessment questions to help you check your understanding, offer practical exercises to deepen your knowledge, and encourage a high level of interaction in lectures and seminars. This is very different from courses with more than 300 students.
