With us, you will receive comprehensive training in the various aspects of curative education. You will learn how to help people in different life situations and promote their abilities. Practical exercises, interdisciplinary collaboration and a wide range of content will prepare you for the demanding tasks of a curative educator. The practice-oriented degree programme and the practical semester ensure that you can apply your knowledge directly and gain valuable practical experience. We also offer you personalised support and a participative study atmosphere in which you can actively help shape your studies.
The programme content is attractive and up-to-date. The curative education degree programme comprises seven fields of study (see study plan) and enables you to study flexibly, individually and interprofessionally. The courses take place in presence and online. Teaching is provided by dedicated colleagues with practical experience from our interdisciplinary team.

Applicants must upload a simple copy of their university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur certificate) in PDF format after registering in the applicant portal.

Although the Curative Education degree programme is generally offered as a face-to-face course on the premises of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, the majority of courses are also offered via our video conferencing platform. This enables active online participation with a camera and microphone in high quality.
There are also digital formats such as online workshops, virtual group work, asynchronous learning phases with digital materials and interactive tasks via our learning platform - for a flexible and contemporary study programme.

Binding face-to-face sessions at the university do occur and usually relate to individual practical exercises or methods training. A pre-study internship is not compulsory for the curative education degree programme, but can be very helpful. Initial practical experience in the social sector - be it through an internship, a voluntary social year or voluntary work - gives you an authentic insight into the professional field and helps you to better categorise your own expectations and interests.
In addition, previous practical experience often makes it easier to start studying, as it makes a lot of theoretical content more tangible and creates a basic understanding of social fields of work. We understand that many students work alongside their studies - either to finance their studies or to expand their practical skills - and welcome this combination of theory and practice.
If you would like to work during your studies or are already working, we recommend a consultation with our student advisory service to develop a suitable study plan together. You are responsible for coordinating this with your employer.
Various specialisations and interdisciplinary supplementary subjects can be chosen during the course of the degree programme. This allows students to set their own specialisations and tailor their studies to their individual and professional needs.
English is not a compulsory part of the degree programme. Students who are interested in the language course can take English as part of a supplementary module. Students acquire knowledge of specialised English for special needs education as well as intercultural skills - for example by participating in a International Project Week with students and lecturers from different countries. Students who successfully complete this module receive a language certificate as proof of their achievements.
Alternatively, various language courses can also be attended independently of the supplementary module - at no additional cost. Here too, it is possible to obtain a certificate if you attend regularly. This gives you the opportunity to improve your language skills and gain further qualifications for international careers.
