Curative education is an independent discipline whose professional ethics are based on human dignity and human rights.

With a holistic view, individual measures are developed and the following goals are focussed on:

General higher education entrance qualification, subject-specific higher education entrance qualification, entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences or an equivalent recognised qualification. Successful training in an educational, social or healthcare profession or a pre-study internship of at least twelve weeks in a social, nursing or educational field of work is also required.

If this is your goal, then the Curative Education - Participation and Inclusion degree programme is just right for you.

With us, you will receive comprehensive training in the various aspects of curative education. You will learn how to help people in different life situations and promote their abilities. Practical exercises, interdisciplinary collaboration and a wide range of content will prepare you for the demanding tasks of a curative educator. The practice-oriented degree programme and the practical semester ensure that you can apply your knowledge directly and gain valuable practical experience. We also offer you personalised support and a participative study atmosphere in which you can actively help shape your studies.

The programme content is attractive and up-to-date. The curative education degree programme comprises seven fields of study (see study plan) and enables you to study flexibly, individually and interprofessionally. The courses take place in presence and online. Teaching is provided by dedicated colleagues with practical experience from our interdisciplinary team.

The degree programme is aimed at anyone who wants to support people with disabilities and disadvantages and work towards an inclusive society. Ideal for committed individuals who are looking for a practical and future-orientated education.

Curative education often takes place in an interdisciplinary context and is defined and legitimised by specific legal foundations.

Examples of curative education fields of action are

  • Work with children and young people, e.g. educational support and educational counselling; day-care centres; early intervention and early counselling as well as employment as non-teaching educational staff or in schools.
  • Accompaniment, assistance and support for adults with disabilities, assisted living or accompaniment and counselling in everyday life and leisure; health, health care and prevention; family or accompanied parenthood; work, vocational training and career promotion.
  • Accompaniment, assistance and support for people with psychiatric illnesses, B. Living and working.
  • Accompanying and supporting ageing people, e.g. in retirement and nursing homes, neighbourhood centres or multi-generational houses.
  • Self-employment: After completing your studies, you also have the opportunity to set up your own curative education practice. Here you can offer individual support programmes and therapies and set your own priorities.
  • Management and coordination tasks: With your academic degree, you will also qualify for management positions in social institutions. You can take on management and coordination tasks and ensure the quality of educational work.

The curative education degree programme at HSN not only offers you a sound and practical education, but also a wide range of career prospects that will enable you to make a valuable contribution to society and pursue a fulfilling career.

Applicants must upload a simple copy of their university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur certificate) in PDF format after registering in the applicant portal. Proof of successful training or a pre-study internship is also required.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), state-recognised and accredited. The degree programme entitles students to state recognition in accordance with the Thuringian Social Professions Recognition Act.

From the winter semester 2025 / 26, the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences will All modules for the Bachelor's degree programme in Curative Education - Participation and Inclusion (HP) also online offered. Of course, all modules will continue to take place in person.

In this way, the university is responding to students' desire to create more inclusive programmes, especially for students with children or caring responsibilities.

Also this year there are no numerus clausus. Curative education - participation and inclusion (HP) is therefore "NC-free"
