Completion of a first professionally qualifying degree with at least 180 ECTS credits, preferably in health, social or economic sciences. At least one year of professional practice after the first university degree, a letter of motivation and an interview are required.

The programme comprises a combination of compulsory and elective modules that are tailored to the specific requirements of systemic counselling. The compulsory section provides an application-orientated basic education and includes modules such as

  • Basics of systemic counsellingIntroduction to the principles and methods of systemic counselling.
  • Systemic process analysis: Deepening knowledge in the analysis and design of counselling processes.
  • International Studies/Diversity Studies: Discussion of international approaches and diversity in counselling.
  • Research logic and research methodsDevelopment of scientific methodological competence and application in practice.
  • Reflection and evaluationMethodical reflection on one's own actions and evaluation of counselling processes.
  • Crisis interventionStrategies and techniques for supporting clients in crisis situations.

In the compulsory elective area, you can specialise in specific profile focuses, such as

  • Psychosocial counselling: Specialisation in counselling individuals and groups in psychosocial contexts.
  • Institutional and organisational consultingFocus on advising institutions and organisations on process optimisation and change management.

The programme concludes with a Master's thesis, which is scientifically sound and professionally qualifying. This enables you to apply and deepen the skills you have learnt in an independent research project.

The degree programme is aimed at academics with professional experience(from the fields of health, social work, business and other related disciplines. Ideal applicants have already completed their first professional qualification and have at least one year of professional experience. They are working in practice and would like to deepen and expand their knowledge and skills in systemic counselling.

The degree programme is aimed in particular at people who work in counselling, therapeutic or managerial roles and would like to develop their skills in systemic process support, crisis intervention and supervision. It is also suitable for those who wish to study systemic methods on an academic basis and develop their own research projects.

A degree in systemic counselling opens up numerous and varied career opportunities in different professional fields. You can work in counselling centres, therapeutic institutions, the education sector, coaching, management and management consultancy. Your tasks will include supporting and counselling people in various life situations, developing and implementing prevention and intervention measures and working with other professionals and institutions.

You will also be able to support complex crisis situations and initiate sustainable change processes. The practical training and continuous theory-practice transfer will prepare you to use your skills effectively in various professional contexts. In addition, the degree programme offers you the opportunity to work academically and carry out your own research projects, which will open up additional career paths in science and teaching.

Applicants must upload a copy of their higher education entrance qualification (e.g. Bachelor's certificate), evidence of professional experience and a letter of motivation in PDF format after registering in the applicant portal.

Master of Arts (M.A.), state-recognised and accredited. After completing an additional 100 hours of counselling, you will receive the "Systemic Counselling" certificate from IF Weinheim.
