The degree programme usually lasts 6 semesters, including a compulsory internship (preferably abroad) and the completion of the Bachelor's thesis.
After completing the programme, students are awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree.
The specialisation options of the IBW degree programme relate to the following areas (compulsory electives):
The specialisation modules start in the 3rd semester.
Various supplementary subjects are also offered:
It is also possible to choose a subject from one of the university's other degree programmes as a supplementary subject.
Various courses are held in English, such as Cross-Cultural Management and the second module of each specialisation. In addition, the International Project Week takes place every summer semester, during which lecturers from partner universities from all over the world also offer workshops in English.
In the IBW degree programme, the main focus is on English as a foreign language, which is a compulsory module in the first four semesters. In addition, the basics of Spanish or another foreign language must be learnt as part of one of the supplementary subjects.
Depending on availability, there is also the option of taking additional language courses on a voluntary basis (e.g. courses in Italian, French and Russian as well as tutorials for other foreign languages).
An internship (abroad) is integrated into the degree programme. If this is not feasible or there is further interest in a stay abroad, semesters abroad can be integrated into the degree programme either as part of a learning agreement or a semester abroad.
The professional internship (compulsory internship) usually takes place in the 5th semester and must last at least 20 weeks. This internship should preferably be completed abroad in order to increase intercultural and professional competence.
Examinations and coursework take the form of written examinations, presentations, written assignments and oral examinations. Please note that each examination may only be taken three times. It should also be noted that examinations influence the overall grade average, whereas coursework does not.

At our University of Applied Sciences, you will receive much more support throughout your learning process than at a traditional university. We provide self-assessment questions to help you check your understanding, offer practical exercises to deepen your knowledge, and encourage a high level of interaction in lectures and seminars. This is very different from courses with more than 300 students.
