The research project aims to investigate the effect of biomediators on the course and outcome of interdisciplinary orthopaedic-psychosomatic rehabilitation. Furthermore, it will be examined whether and to what extent psychological and biographical factors interact with various biomediators relevant to chronic pain syndromes. On the basis of these results, it will be investigated which biomarkers are specifically suitable for an extended diagnosis of chronic pain syndromes and for an improved prognosis of the outcome of differential therapy concepts. Building on this, the intention is to develop treatment modules specifically tailored to problem groups of chronic pain patients as part of the interdisciplinary pain ward at the Bad Pyrmont rehabilitation centre and to evaluate these in terms of their clinical effectiveness. Overall, the results of the proposed research project can be expected to significantly improve the complex diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain patients.
