The Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen has developed into the largest rose collection in the world over the course of its eventful history, which now spans more than 120 years. The director of the Rosarium, Thomas Hawel, gives an overview of the history, the conservation strategies of the collection and the development of the German Rose Gene Bank.
