Summary of the project

The project pursues a holistic approach to increasing local value creation from the generation, storage and utilisation of renewable energies through the use of innovative technologies.

Northern Thuringia has favourable conditions for generation, which is why the regional planning authority wants to designate correspondingly high area targets for wind power.

The project aims to identify the potential for strengthening the regional economy, particularly through the use of green hydrogen. The available, infrastructurally well-connected industrial and commercial (large-scale) areas are to be upgraded, new settlements are to be favoured, companies are to be supported in decarbonisation and the transformation process towards more climate protection and sustainable economic activity in the structurally weak region is to be driven forward in the long term and with foresight
