Information on Erasmus+ funding
The financial support for ERASMUS stays by students is based on the different costs of living in the destination countries and is redefined by the DAAD each year. The following funding rates are therefore intended as a guide.
The maximum possible funding period and funding amount is determined by the amount approved by the DAAD in the so-called "grant agreement".
The scholarship amount for students is determined on the basis of the information they provide on the duration of their stay in the online application in the Mobility Online system and the available budget. Against this background, it is possible that the financial ERASMUS funding period is shorter than the duration of the student's stay. Students will be informed of the exact amount of the grant when the Grant Agreements are sent out.
Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is currently funding from the Erasmus+ Call 2022.
In the academic years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 (i.e. winter semester 22/23, summer semester 23, winter semester 23/24), the maximum funding period for a one-semester stay abroad at a partner university is 90 days and for a planned two-semester stay 150 days - even if the stay abroad usually lasts longer. If the duration of the stay abroad is less than 90 days, the Erasmus+ funding is to the day calculated.
The difference between the mobility period and the funding period is referred to as "zero grant", as no mobility grant is awarded for this period. Even with zero-grant funding, you are considered an Erasmus student for the entire duration of your mobility.

International study visits by German students are possible under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) can be funded. One or two semesters of study that are integrated into the degree programme (i.e. the credits earned abroad are credited to the degree programme) are funded relatively easily. It is also worthwhile for students who do not receive BAföG in Germany to apply, as the funding rates are higher due to the additional costs incurred abroad. The application must always be submitted to the BAföG office responsible for the destination country (not the BAföG office in Nordhausen).
By the way: The funding can be combined with Erasmus+ or PROMOS, as these are only partially offset against BAföG.

In addition, there is a whole range of different scholarships to support study abroad. An overview can be found at Scholarship database of the DAAD.
