Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Sandra Meusel as of 1 April 2024. Sandra Meusel is a researcher in the field of social work and will enrich the Health and Social Work degree programme with her expertise, particularly in the area of child and youth welfare.



She began her academic career at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena, where she graduated with a degree in social work/social pedagogy. Her doctorate, which dealt with the topic of "Volunteering and social inequality", testifies to her commitment to and understanding of social justice and community work. In particular, her work sheds light on the individual, family and social dynamics that play a role in the development of volunteering in socially disadvantaged groups.

Sandra Meusel has been Professor of Social Work at the SRH University of Applied Sciences for Health in Gera since 2017. From 2019, she also took over the management of the Bachelor's degree programme in Social Work. Meusel also completed an additional qualification in systemic counselling (DGSF) at the "Beziehungswerkstatt Jena" from 2018 to 2021.

The appointment at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences was made on 12 December 2023 by the Vice President for Research and Development, Prof. Dr Viktor Wesselak. Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is convinced that Prof Meusel will be a great asset to the university and its students.
