As part of the current "Recycling 2.0" research project, members of the recycling technology research team at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences have designed and manufactured a collection container for optical data carriers - CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs - which can now be loaned free of charge to all interested parties for collections at public institutions, schools or companies.
The 9th grade of the Heringen regular school receives the collection container from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences
The storage media to be collected are made of polycarbonate, are very easy to recycle and therefore represent a high-quality plastic for recycling. At the same time, the associated plastic packaging can also be thrown in, which then ends up in a separate chamber inside the container and is sent for further recycling.
The first of these collection containers was handed over to the teacher, Ms Schreiber, at an information and teaching event on 2 July, during which the pupils of year 9 at the Heringen secondary school visited the Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and will be housed for some time in the rooms of the secondary school in Heringen.
