Delegation from the Agency for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan visits HSN

On 30 November 2023, HSN welcomed a delegation from the Agency for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Nordhausen. Led by the Director of the Agency for Innovative Development, Olimjon Tuychiev, the six-member delegation is in Thuringia this week at the invitation of State Secretary Feller and Ms Kilian (STIFT).

The delegation visit is a direct result of the delegation trip to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, which took place in April under the leadership of the Thuringian Minister of Economics, Science and Digital Society, Wolfgang Tiefensee, and the Thuringian State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Higher Education and Digital Affairs, Carsten Feller, and during which University President Prof Dr Jörg Wagner established numerous contacts for the HSN and concluded several agreements with new partner universities.

As the TMWWDG recently reported, STIFT and the State Agency for Innovative Development signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in this context. Together with the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in science, research and innovation signed by the BMBF and the Uzbek Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation in May 2023, this opens up increasing opportunities for cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Agency for Innovative Development was founded in 2022 and is part of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. As part of Uzbekistan's innovation and development strategy, its tasks include building innovation ecosystems for socio-economic development in cooperation with international partners.

The visit to Nordhausen was accompanied by the representatives of LEG Thüringen responsible for Central Asia. The delegation was particularly interested in the areas of transfer and innovation ecosystems, further training for teachers, joint research and training, in which Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is also actively successful. University President Wagner, the Vice President for Research and Development, Prof. Dr Viktor Wesselak, the University Incubator for Entrepreneurship (hike) and the Transferwerk demonstrated the practical orientation on campus and reported on their activities.

The signing of an agreement is now being prepared for further cooperation, which will be concretised through in-depth, digitally supported follow-up meetings.
