When it was announced that the team from Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences would be competing against the strongest team in the district, Energieversorgung Nordhausen took the opportunity to donate new jerseys - after all, the energy supplier has also been an official cooperation partner of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences since the beginning of the year. Previously, the students had to compete in their private sportswear and this sometimes led to confusion when not all those involved could agree on a T-shirt colour. Yesterday was the ceremonial handover of the new players' clothing. EVN Managing Director Hans-Peter Dörflinger personally presented the team with their new kit in the presence of the Rector of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, Prof Dr Jörg Wagner. He emphasised that the entire equipment is genuine Thuringian handiwork. The jerseys were made by the Dingelstadt-based family business Wigu, which also supplies Bundesliga stars such as Oliver Kahn and Timo Hildebrandt with sportswear. Company boss Wilhelm Gundermann personally sponsored the student footballers with three original World Cup balls and a sports bag bearing the university's insignia. The footballers are therefore ideally equipped for tomorrow's match against Wacker. This match has become a tradition. The students from Weinberghof, then still members of the School of Agricultural Engineering, have been competing against the first team from Wacker in a friendly match since 1956 and many a student is said to have been discovered for the league. The FH footballers are eager to show off their skills and are hoping for extensive student fan support. All interested parties from the region are cordially invited to the match.
