HSN President, Prof Dr Jörg Wagner, welcomed the mayor and congratulated her on taking office. "I am delighted that our first Master's graduate, Alexandra Rieger, has been elected by the city council to the honourable office of Mayor/1st Alderman of the city of Nordhausen after many years of responsible professional activity in the city and district of Nordhausen. We have many ideas for mutually beneficial co-operation," says Jörg Wagner.

The meeting focussed on identifying interfaces for future collaboration. Alexandra Rieger, who is now responsible for the areas of schools, culture and tourism at the town hall, can imagine, among other things, the city participating in filling the first semester welcome bags; for example with vouchers for the library, event flyers and information packs as a welcome from the city.

A stronger link between university and city marketing was also discussed. The head of university marketing, Tina Bergknapp, emphasised the importance of not only promoting the campus and the range of courses on offer, but also focusing on Nordhausen as a university location. The mayor expressly welcomed these endeavours and is open to joint projects.

Jörg Wagner and Alexandra Rieger also agree that the city and the university can work closely together in many areas to further increase the attractiveness of the location so that many young people will continue to choose to study in our beautiful Rolandstadt in the future.
