The annual ICF Users' Conference has established itself as the central event for questions relating to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) of the World Health Organisation (WHO). The aim of the ICF Users' Conference 2024 is to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and to provide information on various applications of the ICF for children, young people and adults.

On 22 and 23 November 2024, the 5th ICF User Conference for Children, Adolescents and Adults will take place as a joint online event for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The conference will be organised by Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.
This year's conference will once again welcome a large number of experts and users of the ICF, who will offer valuable insights into the implementation and further development of this classification. The conference aims to present the various applications of the ICF for children, adolescents and adults and to promote interdisciplinary dialogue.
Participants can expect contributions on the following main topics:
1) Joint decision-making with the ICF - Shared decision makingThe ICF supports shared decision-making by helping patients and professionals to place individual needs and life goals at the centre of treatment planning.
2) Needs assessment with ICF orientationWith the ICF, needs can be precisely determined by taking into account both a person's limitations and resources in order to plan individualised and tailor-made support measures.
3) Participation goals according to ICFThe ICF enables the definition and pursuit of participation goals that help people with disabilities to actively participate in social life.
4) ICF learning tools and digital applicationsDigital applications and learning tools based on the ICF facilitate the learning and practical application of the classification in various professional contexts.
5) Projects for practical and illustrative work with the ICF - not only for childrenPractical projects are presented that show how the ICF can be used effectively with both children and adults.
6) The assessment criteria in the ICF - "Qualifiers for quality?"This focus examines how the qualifiers of the ICF contribute to the precise assessment of functional abilities and to quality assurance in practice.
7) ICF in teaching, further education and trainingThe ICF is increasingly being integrated into the training of professionals in order to promote a deeper understanding of its application in practice.
8) ICF for children and young people in practice: Discusses how the ICF is used specifically in work with children and young people to improve their opportunities for participation
9) ICF in nursing careThis focus highlights the application of the ICF in nursing to create individualised care plans that are tailored to the needs of patients.
10) The ICF for the description and operationalisation of disabilityThe ICF offers a comprehensive model for the description and operationalisation of disabilities that is widely used in practice and research.
11) Integration assistance: the "group of persons entitled to benefits": It is discussed how the ICF can be used to determine the group of people entitled to benefits in integration assistance.
12) Joint basic application" project of the Federal Working Group for Rehabilitation (BAR)The project presents a standardised application that is based on the ICF and is intended to simplify the application for rehabilitation services.
13) ICD, ICF and ICHIDevelopments in the WHO classifications. The latest developments and correlations between the WHO classifications ICD, ICF and ICHI are presented and their significance for practice explained.
The ICF User Conference is aimed at all interested parties who would like to find out more about the ICF, deepen their knowledge of its application or network with other users.
