Home | New professorship at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences: Dr.-Ing. Jenny Jordan teaches process engineering and environmental engineering
21 August 2026
The engineering scientist joins the Department of Engineering with immediate effect, bringing with her many years of industrial experience in research and development.

Nordhausen, 17 August 2026. Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences has appointed Dr Jenny Jordan, Dr.-Ing., as Professor of Process Engineering and Environmental Engineering. The Faculty of Engineering has thus filled a professorship that combines technical processes with issues relating to environmental protection and resource conservation.
Process engineering deals with how raw materials are used in technical processes to manufacture products, and how substances are transformed, separated or treated – for example, in industrial manufacturing, water treatment or the recovery of recyclable materials. Environmental engineering complements this perspective by addressing the question of how such processes can be designed to conserve resources and minimise environmental impact.
Jenny Jordan obtained her PhD in 2019 from Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in the field of thermal process engineering. She subsequently worked in industry, most recently as Head of Quality Assurance and Research and Development at PMCtec GmbH in Thale (Saxony-Anhalt). In this role, she was responsible for both quality assurance and the development and optimisation of products and processes in an industrial setting.
Its research and development focuses on particle technology, powder metallurgy, the manufacture and processing of ceramics and plastics, and water treatment, particularly filtration processes. These topics are relevant both to industrial practice – for example, in the development and optimisation of materials and production processes – and to environmental protection – for instance, when it comes to purifying water efficiently or recovering usable materials from waste.
„I want to show students just how closely process engineering knowledge and environmental protection are linked – and that, in industrial practice, the two have long gone hand in hand,“ emphasises Jenny Jordan.
„In Jenny Jordan, we are welcoming an engineer who brings with her both process engineering expertise and industrial experience,“ says Prof. Dr Jörg Wagner, President of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences. „The intersection of process engineering and environmental issues is a topic that is becoming increasingly relevant for our region and for the education of our students. I am delighted that she will now be bringing this experience to bear in teaching and research.“
