In February, the new seRo.inTech research group "Investigation of secondary raw material sources in Thuringia, taking into account innovative technologies", headed by Prof Ariane Ruff and Prof Robert Wudtke, met with the members of the Industrial Advisory Board in the Council Chamber of Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences.

The hybrid kick-off event was accompanied by representatives from the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society and the Thüringer Aufbaubank. In addition to getting to know each other, the event focussed on presenting the project content.

The research project with the reference number 2023FGR0094 is being carried out jointly by the project participants, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences (HSN), the Institute for Applied Building Research Weimar gGmbH (IAB) and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Institute for Future-Oriented Infrastructure Systems (b.is). The project will run for 30 months until 30 June 2026 and is supported by an industrial advisory board made up of 6 regional and national practice partners (Südharzwerke Nordhausen, Nordhausen District Office, Köhler Paper Greiz GmbH, LINETECHNOLOGY GmbH, Heinz-Werner GmbH Aschara, ReSales GmbH).

The seRo.inTech research group aims to mobilise the material flows of bulky waste, mixed construction waste and used textiles through targeted collection strategies. Subsequent processing, which is carried out at the Thuringian Innovation Centre for Recyclable Materials (ThIWert) at HSN and elsewhere, is intended to develop concepts and processes for the provision of high-quality secondary raw materials for use in practice.
