The Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Maik Arnold as Professor of Social Management on 5 March by the Vice President for Research and Development, Professor Viktor Wesselak.

Prof Dr Maik Arnold held the professorship for Social Management/Social Economy at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences from 2017 to 2024. Prior to this, he was Managing Director and Research Associate at the Centre for Research, Further Education and Consulting at ehs Dresden gGmbH from 2013 to 2017. In all of these roles, he successfully managed several projects that were funded by the EU, foundations and private-sector third parties. His publications have covered various areas such as social management, change management, university didactics, intercultural communication and competence as well as game-based learning.
Through his diverse experience as a visiting professor at University College Cork (IRE), fellow of the Töpfer Foundation in the Teaching Programme, postdoctoral fellow at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies (UK), fellow of the Goethe Institute in Kraków (PL) and at the Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities in Essen as well as fellow of the Global Young Faculty in Essen, he brings with him a wide range of knowledge and research experience.
In addition to his academic work, Prof Dr Arnold has also been an honorary board member of the International Association for Social Management/Social Economy (INAS e.V.) and spokesperson for the German-speaking Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) network since 2020. He also works as a certified systemic coach for change management and as an intercultural trainer on a freelance basis. His expertise and diverse experiences are also reflected in his podcast "Managing Around" - A Podcast about Management, Culture and Social Sciences", which he hosts.
